How to learn a new language?
Lots of people want to learn a new language like English, but doing so can be a challenge. It isn't so much that learning most languages is all that hard, it has more to do with the amount of time that you have to spend on it. With a few basic guidelines you should find that learning any language is possible as long as you are willing to invest the time.
The first thing that you are going to have to do is to decide on how you want to learn. There are basically two options here, you can take a course or you can try to learn the language yourself. Either way you are going to have to realize that it is going to take quite an investment of time to learn a new language. The best thing to do is to spend as much time with the language as you possibly can. The more you are immersed in the new language the better your chances of learning it.
You will find that the best way to learn a new language is listen to it or read it as much as you can. The best option would be to do both. If you can listen to the language while you are reading along you will find that this is the fastest approach. When you are reading or listening you are going to want to try to stick to things that you can at least partially understand. You are not going to get much out of it if you are reading things that you have no understanding of at all.
The best way to start when you are trying to learn a new language is to focus on the words and phrases. Get a phrase book and practice with the phrases in there. The idea is that you need to build up your vocabulary before you can do anything else. In the early days you are going to want to put most of your focus onto expanding your vocabulary. Don't worry at this point if you are using the phrases in proper sentences or if your grammar is correct, that is something that you will have to deal with later.
Once you have the vocabulary down, at least to a certain extent you will need to start learning things like proper grammar. In large part the best way to do this is to move on from reading phrase books to reading proper books. This will give you a fairly good idea of how the grammar works and get you off on the right track. Eventually you will want to take some time and learn the proper rules of grammar but this is at a fairly advanced stage. In the early days you want to just focus on being able to understand the language and being able to communicate in it.
